Royal Polaris - Yellowfin Show at Alijos

Wed Nov 19 2008, 12:42PM

Hi folks;

We arrived at Alijos rocks at 09:30 hours. Weather was quite beautiful and sunny.

Our fishing today was excellent with limits of Yellowfin tuna being caught by all in the 20 to 40 pound range. Joe Amagrande got a Yellowfin tuna that should weigh around 55 pounds and we did lose a few other good ones. We also had 23 Wahoo and 17 Yellowtail for the day. It was a fun day of fishing and the Yellowfin bit right into the dark of the night.

We are planning on giving this another day tomorrow. Enjoy the photos. Frank and the R/p crew (Dharyl, Roy, Billy, Jim, Aaron, Anthony, and James).

Prime Time Booking Charters

Wed Nov 19 2008, 10:55AM

PRIME TIME" is a superb, top quality 50' sportfisher, operated by a veteran professional sportfishing captain.  This fine yacht is ideal for discrete groups of six or less, fishing the offshore waters of San Diego.  Trips vary from half day local kelp fishing trips, targeting such species as Bonita, Barracuda, Calico Bass, Sand Bass, White Sea bass, Yellowtail and Halibut, to fishing one or one and a half days at the Coronado Islands. The Coronado trips offer a more exotic locale with a more bountiful and varied catch. Summer fishing is primarily offshore, ranging from 45-80 miles, predominantly into Mexican waters.  Targeted species would include Albacore Tuna and Bluefin Tuna in the early summer; Yellowfin Tuna, Big Eye Tuna and occasionally Dorado in the late summer.  Large Yellowtail are also targeted on offshore kelp paddies. Late summer and fall will bring Striped Marlin into the local San Diego waters. We are also available for charter, for any fishing tournaments, even into Cabo San Lucas.

Field & Stream: Palin a hero, Schwarzenegger a villain

Wed Nov 19 2008, 10:15AM

Field & Stream: Palin a hero, Schwarzenegger a villain

Palin22

Field & Stream magazine has declared Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin among its many heroes and California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger its biggest villain in 2008.

"For the first time in a century we had a candidate for executive office who understood real hunting and fishing," F&S, in its December issue, said of Palin, who advanced through part of a March Madness-style bracket system past other "heroes," including Kevin Costner (angler) and golfer Boo Weekley (hunter-angler).

The finalist on the hero side was country singer Miranda Lambert, an avid deer hunter whose lyrics have reflected her fondness for the outdoors.

Among villains, because of their staunch animal rights beliefs, were Pamela Anderson, Paul McCartney and Vladimir Putin.

Schwarzenegger, who vaulted past them all, was harshly criticized for supporting gun-control measures and being on watch during the collapse of the Chinook salmon fishery.

He advanced to a face-off against Lambert because, F&S explains, "Thanks to him, nobody in California might hunt or fish again." Read more Read more
