Big bird schools headed west in a hurry today. These barracuda are big as the grade of fish this year is very impressive. Is this going to  be the year of the BIG Fish? I hope the albacore follow this trend too. Back to the gar, many times this barrcuda will sizzle right up to the Channel Islands while other times they drop back at night nd do a repeat of the day before. Takes a short break to catch a couple of nice Gulf of Suez Grouper in Egypt! Mike and the Cod Father are in Egypt sampling the area for Giant Squid! And the Signs are fantastic! No Kidding there are at least 15 to 25 squid boats out front every night! Weather is great and fishing great. Albacore will be on the menue for San Diego very soon. I will see you there.  The Freelance ran into the bonito on the way to Catalina and ended up with 82 fish to 14 pounds. when they hit Catalina they had a nice pick on the bass with a few bottom grabers to go with it.The Freelance is leaveing on an extended trip Saturday at 6 am and they are on line all week leaving at 7 am.  Another good day of bonito fishing on the 3/4 day run out of Seaforth Landing with 2 yellowtail for the guys.1/2 day trips are starting to rock and rolll on the bonito with lots of mackerel to pull on, with a pick on the bass and bottom fish. Seaforth Landing has 3/4 day trips daily leaving at 5:30 with two 1/2 day trips leaving at 6 and 12:30. Don't forget about twilight going Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights at 6 pm.  Newport Landing has an open party am 1/2 day halibut trip for tommorrow (Saturday May 17) is a go with 8 anglers. Departs at 6am on the Amigo with Capt Greg Obymako. Limited to 18 anglers at $60.  Billfish, Billfish, Billfish....I know that many of you are probably tired of hearing it, but there are so many billfish in the East Cape right now that it has been the story for over a month now. Many boats continue to return to the docks with up to nine billfish flags per boat. The dorado bite has also kept up this week with some boats returning with over a dozen in one day. Sprinkle in some roosters, cabrillas, pargos, and a 405 lb. blue marlin, and you have another great week down in the East Cape.

 The Coroloma just back in from making a nice load of bait. They will be running all weekend leaving at 6 am.
